My mother would always say I should take care of my health because I have a weak immune system. In addition, I have an asthma which always complicates my condition. That's why when I get sick, it would usually take me a longer time to recover. I got sick at the start of the month to the point that my health deteriorated rapidly. It took a toll on my physical and mental state and everyday seemed like it would be the last. It started with a simple flu but my asthma got in the way. I had a fever and cold for two weeks but what scared me the most was not being able to breathe. Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease which causes your airways narrow and inflamed, making it difficult to breathe. It may seem like a common disease but it can be life-threatening when not attended. It's frightening because every breath you take might be your last. Even though you want to breathe, you just can't. Anything can be a trigger and you have to be prepared for an attack, especially at night. Asthma gets worse at night and sleeping and breathing becomes terrifying. During the checkup, my doctor said she couldn't hear any air in my system and I got so scared that I almost had an attack. She immediately handed me the nebulizer to help me breathe and it did help me calm down. What's frustrating is that I am also allergic to some medicines so she has to take that into consideration. I hate taking medicines because of their side effects but what choice do I have? I have taken my health for granted and now I'm paying for it. So please, take care of your health until it's not too late. I've learned that the hard way. It's not bad to work hard but let us remind ourselves first that health is wealth. After all, our body is the only place we have to live.
